Once again and just hours before the Special Called Meeting on Tuesday, June 1 at which the Board of Commissioners would make a final decision, Jeff Shipman of SE Asphalt withdrew his application to rezone a 6.5 acre portion of land located on the northeast corner of Highway 176 and US Highway 25 (Exit 7 on Highway 25) to a conditional district to construct a new asphalt drum plant.
Without you, the future of East Flat Rock and Henderson County could look much different.
We thank MountainTrue for being our fundraising partner and thank the 13,000+ members of Friends of East Flat Rock who signed the petition, displayed signs in front of their homes and businesses, attended public rallies online and at Orr’s Family Restaurant, donated money to cover legal and advertising expenses, and so generously gave much of their time and resources to help in our opposition against the proposed hot mix asphalt plant.
We also thank Commissioner Mike Edney, who publicly announced last Wednesday he will vote no against the asphalt plant, and the Henderson County Planning Board, who declined to recommended this application to the Board of Commissioners twice.
We also thank the members of the press and all who donated resources to have this community discussion take place so that Henderson County could choose what’s best for all of us, not just one of us.
Awesome!! Thank u to each & everyone of u of the friends of east flat rock who worked so hard to fight this. Great job!!!
Congrats friends of east flat rock!
